HELLFEST DAY 1
Attendees arrived early under a blazing sun (nearly 30–36 °C), greeted by the festival’s striking aesthetic—from giant Marshall amp gates to statues of Lemmy—instantly immersing them in Hellfest’s unique “metal Valhalla” atmosphere.

The vending area buzzed with activity: tattoo booths, merch stalls, themed bars, and the Extreme Market filled with eager festival-goers, even as temperatures climbed.
Beyond the main stages, Hell City Square offered a lively cultural hub—food stalls with abundant veggie/vegan options, free water points, and informative cashless payment stations allowing wristband top-ups, supporting a smooth and inclusive experience.
🎶Musicial Highlights
Asinhell (Mainstage 1, mid–afternoon)
A powerful dose of death metal featuring Volbeat’s Michael Poulsen. Their short but intense set, laced with deep riffs and a commanding presence, proved an exceptional opener that stirred the crowd early on.
Bleed From Within (Mainstage 2)
This Scottish metalcore force raised the energy with charged breakdowns and stage pyrotechnics (“Sovereign” ignited early mosh pits). It was a dynamic performance with high audience engagement.
Apocalyptica (Mainstage 1, 18:00–18:40)
Their signature cello-driven orchestral interpretations of Metallica classics (“Ride the Lightning”, “One”) offered a thrilling blend of sophistication and power that resonated widely.
Korn (Mainstage 1, 23:30–01:00)
The headliner returned with a nostalgic yet raw set, including hits like “Freak on a Leash” and “Twist.” Jonathan Davis energized the crowd, saying, “Hellfest! Look at all of you crazy mother fuckers…” reinforcing the festival’s connection with its legendary nu-metal roots.

🎤 OnSite Experience & Logistics
• Facilities: Cashless wristbands worked seamlessly, with reliable topup points also integrated with the app.
• Food & Drinks: With ~42 food stands and over 80% offering vegetarian—and 30% vegan—options, festival-goers had plenty of varied choices.
• Heat & Comfort: Despite the intense heat, hydration points and sunscreen usage were prevalent. Some reported fine dust in the afternoon air, reminding attendees to carry wipes or tissues.
• Crowds & Mobility: Efficient layouts allowed easy movement between stages (Mainstage, Warzone, Temple, Altar), which took roughly five minutes—without feeling cramped.

• Community & Vibe: The friendliness and camaraderie were evident—journalists and fans mingled freely, and strangers connected over shared music passions.
Hellfest Day 1 delivered a thrilling blend of raw heaviness and unique musical twists. From the crushing force of Asinhell and Bleed From Within to the emotive cello-metal of Apocalyptica and the nostalgic return of Korn, it was a celebration of heavy music’s breadth. Operationally, the festival impressed: excellent food variety, efficient cashless infrastructure, and a warm, inclusive vibe. The heat posed a challenge, but the organisation and community spirit helped overcome it.

Till Lindemann – Industrial Thunder on Mainstage 1
Till Lindemann stormed the stage in his signature red fur and leather, launching directly into a hurricane of industrial metal. From the visceral opening “Zunge” through crushing renditions of “Fat,” “Golden Shower,” and the relentless “Sport frei,” the set was a relentless tide of pounding drums, heavy riffs, and theatrical provocation. Lindemann delivered exactly the kind of bold, divisive industrial experience he’s known for. It was a “love-it-or-hate-it” spectacle, combining raw aggression, theatrical intensity, and unfiltered shock—all wrapped in a tight, muscular performance. Whether you revelled in the spectacle or recoiled at the provocation, there’s no denying the impact: it was one of the most memorable, talked-about performances of Hellfest’s opening night.
